{"id":242,"date":"2015-04-13T20:42:44","date_gmt":"2015-04-13T20:42:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/3d.rayharwood.com\/?p=242"},"modified":"2015-06-09T19:35:45","modified_gmt":"2015-06-09T19:35:45","slug":"eye-mechanics-making-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/3d.rayharwood.com\/?p=242","title":{"rendered":"Eye Mechanics Making Progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not done yet, but pretty happy with the progress on &#8220;eye mech&#8221; \u2013 the mechanical part of the eye movement control.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->A local radio control hobby shop had a transmitter on sale\u2026 the same type that R\/C airplane and higher-end copter folks use. That, plus a receiver, a battery, and four servos, and I&#8217;m on my way to some real movement!<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a picture of the &#8220;eye mech plate&#8221; I designed and 3D printed, along with two eyes. \u00a08 gauge threaded cable holds the eyes, currently, but I&#8217;m working on a smaller cable with a smooth ball on the end to reduce friction and provide stability. \u00a0Servos are strategically mounted \u2013 though they&#8217;re not yet hooked up to any control rods. One servo will control left\/right eye movement, and the other will control up\/down. I&#8217;ve got room for a third servo to control blinking movement for eyelids \u2013 not yet designed.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/3d.rayharwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_5287.jpg?w=670\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll notice the two-level box near and just between the eyes.
